Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes

This is about two weeks late, but we started up the TNS rides again. To kick it off, Steve and I headed out from the spot to meet up with Butch at Dremos. Then a quick ride over to the Arlington Cinema Draft House to see the movie Six Day Bicycle Race. Good thing Steve saw that this movie was playing, because it was great! It was by far the most interesting cycling film I’ve ever seen.

After the film, in true TNS fashion we headed right over to Cap City in Shirlington for a final beer before making the ride back home. I’m guessing roundtrip mileage was around 18 miles. The ride was a lot of fun, but I think the pictures tell a better story…

Monday Music

This was meant to be posted on Monday, but for some reason I forgot to publish it, oh well, here it is.

Fantasma by Cornelius

Cornelius (aka Keigo Oyamada) is an out there artist.  He’s a japanese clothes designer, who just so happens to make some great electronic music.  This isn’t your older brothers electronic music though, this stuff has layers upon layers upon layers.  You get about 12 layers deep and you realize there’s no use trying to go any farther and fall into the deep grooves.  Everything from rock to hiphop to sound samples…it’s like a Japanese Disneyland on crack.  So give it a whirl.  I’ve yet to pick up his follow on album, but I hear it’s worth picking up.

Download here.  I think this one ended up being around 20mb.

Holidaze

It’s that time of year again…cold weather, spending time with family, eating lots of good home cooked meals, partaking in many of the fabulous Winter seasonal brews, and a few extra pounds on the tank when it’s all said and done. Some people just watch their diet or take the pounds willingly and expect to drop them when the weather warms up and the new year is in full swing, others take matters into their own hands. Now I’m not good at diets, but I eat fairly well (thanks to Kristin), so to head off the pounds before they show up I need to be more active. Unlike that damn Spearmint or the Raging Ranter, I don’t have the opportunity to bike commute. Well I should say I “choose” not to bike commute…this is based on the fact that my roundtrip commute would be over 80 miles a day. So how to add in a little extra fun activity to keep the pounds at bay? Hold on…is that a pig that just went flying by my window? Yep, I’ve started running AND I’m even doing a few ab exercises. Starting today gives me the leg up on everyone who decides their ass is too big on New Years Eve with the side benefit of giving the dog a little more action than just walking. So this December is the first annual…

So if you happen to see me and I’m looking fatter than usual, feel free to give me a swift kick for motivation…like I even need to ask.
